August Wilson

August Wilson was born in 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: the setting of all his plays of The Pittsburgh Cycle. Wilson did not grow up in a lavish neighborhood, but one that knew suffering. He was an ambitious child who always looked for a challenge, something that would make him better in his academic pursuit. For much of his education he taught himself, which soon helped him realize that he would like to become a writer. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his series of ten plays- The Pittsburgh Cycle. August Wilson passed away on October 2, 2005 of liver cancer.
